The Guardyan

2010 Welch/Tb gelding

The Guardyan aka “Gee” was born in 2010 by Elly’s Welch pony stallion Fox Cry Nicodemus and out of Miss Laffalot, a Thoroughbred mare that was given to Elly by Alanna Warnick.  He has a huge personality, great brain, movement and ability. Gee was originally bred to be a sales pony, but that quickly changed.
Gee was always getting into mischief and making his presence known.  He was definitely his father’s child! Too smart for his own good! When Gee was ready to be backed, she had her good friend and 3* eventer, Mollie Zobel and her working student at the time, Sammie DiMaria start breaking him. Sammie rode and trained Gee the basics of flat work and jumping. She then went off to college and Elly decided she might as well throw her leg over the all of 14.2 hh pony and start riding and competing him herself, even though she hadn’t jumped in almost 2 decades!  At this point he was still for sale but then Elly started having the time of her life jumping this little fearless pony!
With Mollie’s help they conquered their first Beginner Novice event in which they ended up forth! Shortly after, Elly started teaching 4* event rider, Kate Brown, in dressage so she could achieve her bronze medal. It was only logical for Elly to have Kate start helping with Gee. Elly and Gee then entered their first Novice event at Pine Top Farm in Thomson, GA, in which, they finished in first! They won their second Novice event at Sporting Days Farm in Aiken, SC.
Together, Elly and Gee have qualified for and competed at the 2016 AEC's. They are currently schooling PSG and he shows remarkable aptitude for piaffe and pirouettes.
